Do you charge for quotes, and has it cost you work?

Driving an hour each way to price a job you have a one-in-four chance of winning is a day gone by Friday.

Some people charge a survey fee and knock it off if they get the job. Some quote off photos. Some won't leave the yard without a card number.

What are you doing, and did you lose work when you started charging? Interested in whether it filtered out the tyre-kickers or just filtered out customers.
